در «پاریس» به چاپ رسید؛ ا شربیانی I am so greatful for reading this book It gave me a fresh and great perspective of the Iran I thought I knew It changed my understanding of the Pahlavi Dynasti I now regret believing all the garbage they made up about these people All I can say to this person is THANK YOU for your services to our country and SORRY this country betrayed you I would not say that An Enduring Love is written with as flowery and beautiful language as Daughter of Persia that I read some years ago but I do like Farah Pahlavi's effort and her life storyThe Iranian hostage crisis and the uestion of what would become of the extremely ill Shah of Iran the author's husband and his family was all over the news when I was seventeen years old and finishing up high school It was the first political crisis I really paid any attention to and the first Middle Eastern crisis of my lifetime which the US media presented When I was in school we were not taught anything about the world outside of US We only got the Spanish explorers and the conuest of central and South America the fall of the Aztec Inca Empires and European history mainly England Spain Rome Greece and a tiny bit of France I had never heard of Iran and did not know it was the same place as the Persian Empire mentioned in the Bible We were kept in the dark The news was not much help It did was it still does best present and blow up a crisis without giving any in depth details or accurate background history Long storyWhat impressed me the most about An Enduring Love My Life with the Shah was the respect Farah Pahlavi and her husband had for each other I loved some of her stories about their family life and also her tale of the uiet romance that developed between her and the shah after their first meeting There was mutual admiration there The Shah treated his wife as an eual partner and had confidence in her Farah Pahlavi writes of how much they both loved their country and the efforts they put into moving Iran into the modern world Their opponents and the US media once the Shah and his family were thrown around and shut out during exile tell a different story I vaguely remember the news demonizing the Shah almost as much as Ayatollah Khomeini Both were presented as different sides of an evil and exotic coin Whereas the author of the book tells a different storyTo get different sides of the story of modern Iran besides this book I highly recommend Daughter of Persia which I have read also plan to read these books at some point to get a broader perspectiveThe Man in the Mirror of Persia Muhammad Mossadegh and a Tragic Anglo American Coup week one of my followers on Twitter shared this documentary with me about Farah Pahlavi It is closed captioned in English Here is an old clip from British Pathe of Farah Diba Pahlavi and the Shah's wedding on her official YouTube page The Arabic version of the book is well translated which allowed me to enjoy reading the book and the empress's account of her lifeThe book is well written and gives you insight on Iran since beginning of last century until the Islamic Revolution for a change reading her side of the story on Iran pre revolution and all projects and efforts the Shah and herself made to the development and growth of Iran and her narrative of the years before the revolution can give the reader insight on the growth of Khomeni's reach inside Iran with the help of certain foreign powersI would strongly recommend this book to anyone interested in the history of the region and the live of the Shah Shahbano Farah Diba Pahlavi the shahbanou of Iran wrote down her life in Iran her marriage to the shah and their ouster as a family after the Islamic revolution It is a gripping story and despite some aspects perhaps being glossed over she has chronicled the demise of Iran at the hands of Islamic fundamentalists There is one thing that I have taken from this memoir and that is that the ueen has unrelenting love for her country culture people and history HIM Farah Pahlavi has shown so much strenght in the last 30 years just this should be worthed 5 stars She wrote what is to be considered a memoir not a history book although through her eyes we are able to see the big chnages in her CountryA young Iranian girl who never dared to dream about being great became the ueen of ueens the Empress who devoted herself to her people5 It is beautiful book if you have plenty of time But for me it is extensively detailed and after a while it makes me annoyed being to much detailed But if you are interested in Farah Diba especially Iran I may recommend this book to you In any case you will be surprised about Iran’s culture before Iran Islamic Revolution So Enjoy it A story of the last monarchy of Iran I have read Leap of Faith by ueen Noor of Jordan and this book looks strikingly similar So far so good Stay tuned for my final opinion when I finish May be my last book for fun that I'll be able to read this yearI thought ueen Farrah Diba had her own story to tell and told it well It was uite interesting to read about how Iran was becoming modernized and then all of a sudden does a 360 and started to become what it is today Given current events and that Americans generally know little about Iran and it's history I highly recommend this book I thought that the author used a bit too much uote text regarding the Shah's illness thought A great book to understand the human side of a royal family and the roots of the Iranian revolution Unintentionally Pahlavi reveals the very problems that sparked the revolution such as appointing a cousin as the director of the national broadcasting agency bringing hairdressers from Paris making annual extended family ski trips to Switzerland etc It was also illuminating to read the process of the collapse how individuals decided their faith the generals servants royals In sum this honest account is fascinating to understand a collapsing regime from the perspective of individuals
