Wow wow wow This book was AMAZING This book just totally sucked me in and I had a hard time putting this down Substance That is what was in my mind while I was reading Stearman's writing was full of substance There was nothing in this book that was flighty or lightweight if that makes sense This story is told through Jake's eyes a young man who writes music and wants to make it big in the music world But at what cost In this process Jakes loses Chloe the one thing that means the most to him All you care about these days is fame You're eaten up with it and that doesn't bode well for our future together Jake's overwhelming fame takes a toll including drugs and alcohol The story is a whirlwind of ups and downs and I felt Jake's frustration and desperation throughout this story And there are some amazing twists and turns that I never saw comingThis book proves that not everyone is as they appear and sometimes the people you least expect will be the ones who will be by your side when the floor falls out from under you Anyway if I remember right there was this gold prospector riding through the Outback on his mule Passing along a trail he spotted some eggs on the ground so he nabbed them and put them into his pack to cook for lunch But when he finally took them out to fry he found they weren't eggs after all they were egg shaped rocks So out of curiosity he cracked one open and found an opal inside So he cracked the other open and there were opals in them too Evidently Australian opals sometimes come this way in a sandstone covering But the moral of the story is this it's what's on the inside not the outside of those rocks that gives them their value And it's same with us This book flowed so well I loved the conversations and sometimes cringed at the honestly spoken things that came out of Jake's mouth And it was a breath of fresh air with the absence of sex and profanity And while I don't mind those in a book this book lacked NOTHING without themIf I could rate this higher than 5 stars I would I highly recommend this book You will not be disappointedI received this copy in exchange for my honest review Believe in yourself; don’t put yourself down; so many inspirational messages fill our lives promising success to follow hard labors with fame and fortune lying in the wings The narrator Jacob Marley of D Stearman’s Falling for Chloe finds himself easily sucked into the world's inspirational dream and the tale of his rise or fall is enthrallingly toldJacob’s a talented musician singer song writer as the story begins and a handsome young man His high school voice is rendered with convincing immaturity and grows a believably awkward sense of self worth as Jake enters young successful adulthood Situations and locations are vividly rendered too in this novel offering a great blend of youthful angst and arrogance together with lyrical beauty It’s a mix that works wonderfully making the narrator’s descent into success all the palpable and palpably sad Meanwhile Chloe ever supportive in music and love but not the pursuit of fame lingers like a lost dream as she seeks a different pathFalling for Chloe tells the story of a young man falling for fame and glory instead of for the girl Convincing details of the music scene and its machinations give the tale both edge and power But real power’s in the redemption of realization and return This is a Christian novel and redemption is hinted even as Jacob falls But faith is revealed in an evocative low key manner throughout making this a great read for anyone of any age or belief I really enjoyed itDisclosure I was given a free ecopy and I loved it This is a romance story of young love adulthood and a touch of mystery all tied up in one story The story revolves around Jake who meets a famous rock star who changes Jake’s life forever Jake goes from ugly duckling to handsome hunk He meets the love of his life Chloe She loves Jake so much that she is willing to set him free to let him follow his dream As Jake is following his dream there is someone following him Jake is also very fortunate to have a best friend name Snort that sticks by him through thick and thin no matter how far down Jake falls Snort is there for him Jake is lucky to be aliveI RECEIVED THIS BOOK AS A GIFT FOR A FAIRHONEST REVIEW and REVIEWER FOR Bloggin' With MBrennan Another great readFalling For Chloe was enjoyable to read The story flowed and kept my attention In a world where most books and TV shows are about murder and detectives and gloomy dark storylines this book was a ray of sunshine for me Thanks David Jake’s focus was on his musicthe trappings that went with that lifestyle caught up with him Older seeing the pitfalls and what was lost Chloe was a love he would now like to haveThe story was well told thru him Great celeb romanceThis story is a great romantic story that is not a heavy romance What I mean is thatbit is not just about romance but about the growth of a person that leads to a romance As a reader and reviewer of rockstar romances Falling for Chloe was a bit of a different read which isn't necessarily a bad thing at all If you love the rockstar angle but find the overwhelming amount of erotica in the genre off putting this is definitely a book I would recommend for you It is a completely clean read with a Christian message but the Christianity messages are pretty well camoflauged as in if you aren't looking for them you could miss them I picked up on a few here and there but for the most part I would have to say I didn't think of it as a Christian book and noticed it in other reviews than in the actual text of the book In retrospect it was there but as I would prefer religious messages to be it was rather subtle That could be the Methodist in me shining through but it seemed to be just the right amountIf you can buy the opening where Steven Tyler shows up in a McDonald's in Nowhere Kentucky and tells a kid he seems like a singer and to email him demos you can buy the rest of it There is also a insta lovelove cute scenario built into that fateful McDonald's trip but again if you can accept that you should be fine with the rest as well In the fiction world I am willing to suspend disbelief uite a ways but I will admit that this one pushed my limits in a number of scenarios which probably is the biggest reason it gets 4 stars instead of 5 Lol sadly the one that pretty much pushed me over the edge was the 1956 MustangI am not a huge Mustang fan but am well aware that the first model year was 1964 12I realize this is minor in the grand scheme of things but it definitely pulled me out of the scene I won't bring up the others as in some places they will reveal spoilers and I realize that not everyone shares my view of reality especially when it comes to the music business I don't have any intentions of being a bubble burster There is also one medical procedure I highly uestion being familiar with the particular issue it addresses than I would like to be but that one was fairly easy to overlookTheir are some fantastically witty moments and plenty of roller coaster emotions There is a thrilling subplot that didn't have a truly shocking ending but I was a bit surprised and that plot line had me very invested It is definitely well written and I saw only a couple of typo type errors in the entire workI have mixed feelings about the titular character Sometimes I adored Chloe and others I wasn't too sure where her head andor heart were It would be difficult to truly dislike her She is sweet and she does have good insight even if she seems almost heartless about it at times I guess that means I connected to the musician Jacob Marley The Ghost loved that reference That should be no surprise I don't deny having a big draw to musicians His story hits most of the stereotypes of musicians in any genre who hit superstardom but I did feel for himOverall I would definitely recommend this book especially for readers who prefer a cleaner read I recieved a copy for review purposes Wow wow wow This book was AMAZING This book just totally sucked me in and I had a hard time putting received this copy in exchange for my honest review Hot by David Stearman is a story that gives the reader a peek into a music star’s world It’s narrated by the protagonist JakeI really enjoyed reading Hot” The story was told realistically and yet without the curse words or sex scenes that so many other novels use in dealing with this subject It does however deal with drug and alcohol abuseThis novel made my emotions twirl around my head and heart and this was a good thing because to truly enjoy a book the reader must feel what the characters are feeling and I certainly did while reading Hot And though I’ve no personal experience with the craving for the drugs and alcohol I did understand what seemed to drive Jake to these abuses ie his depression and his need to strive for approvalI kept reading because I wanted Jake’s story to have a happy ending Everyone wants a happy ending right But of course I really can't tell you how things turned out and you wouldn’t want me to anyway it’s so much fun to read and find out for yourself Hot even through it’s fiction teaches some important life lessons It was clear to me that applying some of these principles might make a big difference in any of our livesThis novel isn't just another run on the mill feel good love story It’s full of twists and turns and situations that make you think “Wow I didn’t see that coming but I’m glad it did”Hot illustrates the fact people aren't always as they seem to be; that appearances can be deceiving and sometimes the one we dislike the most can turn out to be our heroI hope I’ve convinced you to read this story Hot is my first David Stearman novel Now his book Hummingbird is on my to read list I haven given Hot five stars Falling For Chloe is a story about fame and love It follows the story of Jake Marley an unpopular kid whose dream is to become a big time musician Jake gets the chance to live out his dream but it comes at the expense of his love ChloeThe plot of the story is great As Jake’s career grows his relationship with Chloe is strained The trouble with the couple causes Jake to engage in reckless behavior threatening his career and any chance of reconciliation with ChloeJake I felt sorry for him because he was a bit of a nerd and the unpopular kid growing up As he became famous he began to behave like a jerk which turned me off Yet I was hoping he’d change his ways As for Chloe I felt for her in what she went through with Jake You could sense that even though they weren’t together she cared for him However there were a few times when I thought she led him onMy main critiue with the book is the pacing At times it appeared to go by too uickly For instance I found it hard to believe that Jake could go from someone who had no musical experience to an expert musician in the span of a month It felt like there was so much going on with the story and it happened to soonAside from that I liked the story and I’m looking forward to reading works from the author
